🍜 ZEN Noodles Express opens beside the Hippodrome
🥤 A Gainesville food truck serves Venezuelan chicha

🌴 Honduran Food on University Avenue
Near UF at 1702 W University Ave., Tela Latin Grill serves Honduran-inspired bowls, burritos and quesadillas. Co-owners Felipe Mayen and Gerhard Matamoros named it for the Honduran beach town they knew growing up.
The two built the Midtown dining room themselves, with grass-tiled walls and pastel signs. Their menu includes a version of the Honduran baleada and Tela sauce. They're planning a second location in Butler Plaza for early December.

The Gist: Daniela Chourio Bertel started making chicha at home in November 2024 and opened the Mana Sweet Chicha food truck in March. She sells the corn-based drink alongside coffee, matcha and sweets at Gainesville parks, apartment complexes and markets.
Why It Matters: Bertel said she started making chicha because she could not find it locally. Her sister says the truck also gives Venezuelans a place to speak Spanish and taste a familiar drink.
